How Trail Caterers Saved My Trip: A Letter from a Fan

We love to share the positive feedback we receive from our customers, so when we received the letter this letter from Jessica, an hiker and all-around outdoorsperson, we wanted to get her experience out to the masses. Read more about how Trail Caterers’ organic dehydrated meals came in clutch for Jessica below:

Hey Trail Caterers!

I do not usually write to companies, but I just got back from an adventure where your meals were the difference between a great weekend and a miserable one.

My friends and I decided to take on a 3-day hike in our local White Mountains in New Hampshire. When preparing for the trip, my friends who are a little less experienced than I camping-wise were planning on provisioning at our local grocery store. I told them to buy one of your tasty meals as a back-up, just in case, but didn’t want to flat out tell them not to, as they are careful about what they eat and have some special dietary needs (even though Trail Caterers’ meals meet their requirements).

When packing up our 65-liter backpacks at the trailhead parking lot, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of food they ended up purchasing. Sure, their intentions were good; they had all kinds of ingredients that they planned on whipping together once we reached our campsite the next two nights, but it took up a ton of room and must have weighed five times what my meals did. Nonetheless, we hit the trail with spirits high.

Throughout the next three days, we had three problems that could have ruined the trip if we hadn’t had your meals in tow.

The first issue was that one of my trip-mates had bought the wrong ingredients for her planned pasta recipe – they were non-organic. After two years of solely eating organic foods, both she and my other friends pulled out their Trail Caterers, boiled some water, and were good to go for the next day.

Then following day, we were caught in a deluge of biblical proportions for three hours. Needless to say, by the time we got to camp, everything was soaked. All food but our Trail Caterers meals were rendered as a mushy mess. Being the over-prepared one in the group and having the extra space/weight capacity due to the lightweight and compact nature of your meals, I threw a few extra in my bag. Once again, my friends were amazed with how easy the meal prep was and how delicious the flavor was – they even said they would eat them at home!

The next day went smoothly and we were able to finish out our adventure. All-in-all, we narrowly escaped empty, growling stomachs twice, which could have either put the success of our trek in jeopardy or just made the whole thing a miserable slog.

It goes without saying, you’ve got three evangelist customers now. None of us will be heading on the trail without your meals in the future!
